Life Planning
Our Financial Life Planning service is designed to be an in-depth and empathic discovery process that helps us uncover your most important life goals. Drawing on our training from the Kinder Institute of Life Planning, we work closely with you to ensure that your unique vision and aspirations are at the forefront of our planning.
Many of our successful clients have found immense value in partnering with a trusted advisor who keeps them focused and accountable. Together, we will create a financial plan that serves as a supportive roadmap, guiding you toward the most meaningful and rewarding life you can envision.
Our Process - During our initial consultation, we will explore whether your needs align with our services. This meeting allows us to assess the complexity of your financial situation and discuss our fees for creating your Financial Life Plan. To make the most of our time together, we kindly ask that you provide the completed Confidential Client Data and Net Worth Statement forms, along with your recent financial statements. Once you decide to work with us, we typically schedule five to seven planning meetings, which occur every three to four weeks, to ensure we stay on track with your goals.
Exploration - In this phase, our goal is to gain insight into your vision of the future and what drives you. By clarifying your aspirations for a fulfilling life, we can create a plan that aligns with your Life Vision. This exploration typically takes place over two meetings. We will ask you to complete thought-provoking assignments, i.e., Communication Preferences and Wellness Worksheet, for your meetings to facilitate our discussions.
Vision - Creating your Life Vision invites you to articulate your dreams and capture your passions for living a fulfilled life. It is a grounding, life-affirming exercise that sets the direction to who you are at your core.
Obstacles - We will examine the challenges you encounter and guide you through understanding any barriers hindering your progress toward achieving your Life Plan. Among other assignments, you will complete your money autobiography which can help you identify any obstacles. Following these discussions, we will initiate the Financial Planning process and assist you in developing a strategic plan aligned with your vision and designed to implement your goals while navigating your obstacles.
Knowledge - Our Financial Life Plan provides a comprehensive overview of your vision and goals, supported by detailed spreadsheets, graphs and Monte Carlo simulations to test out the probability of your success.
This plan includes:
- Projections for retirement income
- Strategies for wealth management
- Analysis of risk and insurance planning
- Tax planning strategies
- Assessment of Long-term care needs
- Strategies for education funding
- Review of estate planning
- Analysis of cash flow and loans
Execution - Successfully implementing your plan is essential for achieving your vision and life goals. We believe the chances of success increase when you use a skilled investment management team and adhere to a disciplined investment process. Our investment approach aims to enhance the clarity and quality of each critical decision throughout the investment process, which is typically completed within three to five months.
Transition Planning
Beth Jones is a Certified Financial Transitionist® and has completed the Mastery Program in Financial Transition Planning with the Sudden Money® Institute. A Financial Transitionist is one who is skilled at managing change. This specific training is designed to help the client who is experiencing a life transition such as divorce, death of a spouse or loved one, inheritance, retirement, health issue, or other. The experience of Financial Transitions can be joyful, confusing, inspiring, sad, and stressful.
We know that when life changes, money changes and when money changes, life changes. There are two sides of money – the subjective or personal side and the objective or technical side. Both are equally important and equally complex. Financial Transition Planning provides guidance, perspective and organization helping our clients to make wise choices, while experiencing all that comes with transitions.
Four Reasons You Need to Hire a Certified Financial Transitionist®
1. To assist you with change. Embracing change is a fundamental aspect of life. As circumstances evolve, so do financial situations, often leading to stress. During times of change, individuals can feel overwhelmed and may not function at their best. Financial Transitionists® recognize this challenge and are skilled at providing a supportive environment for a smooth transition. They help ease anxious minds, reduce the likelihood of hasty decisions, and strive to make the early stages of significant life events more manageable—and even enjoyable. The vital tools for navigating these transitions are integral to the expertise of a trained Financial Transitionist®. They are equipped to guide you through anticipated changes and prepare you for the unforeseen.
2. You’ll have a single point of contact. Your Financial Transitionist® serves as your primary contact throughout this journey. They are familiar with your communication style, your decision-making preferences and offer proven methods to help you transition from feeling overwhelmed to calm.
It's important to recognize that changes impact not only you but also others close to you and professionals, such as your tax advisor. There is a complex dynamic at play, and your Financial Transitionist® is able to coordinate with your other advisors, helping them understand your needs. This collaboration is designed to enhance both your comfort level during the transition process and its overall efficiency.
3. Financial life transitions often take longer than anticipated, and likely longer than desired. These transitions typically unfold over years rather than months, involving multiple cycles of stress and recovery. We refer to this phenomenon as Transition Fatigue®, which occurs when the pressures of change drain your physical and mental energy, increasing the risk of regrettable decisions. Your Financial Transitionist® is equipped to help you identify this fatigue and navigate the process effectively. It’s about understanding your unique journey. Throughout your transition, various strengths and limitations will surface. Having a knowledgeable guide is essential to help you avoid any poor choices, as they can recognize when it’s time to take a break.
4. Financial Transitionists® help you emerge into your new normal. The process helps you build resilience, skills and guides you in managing change. They help you get your feet back on the ground, refreshed rather than exhausted, ready for the next time life changes.
